It only took 24 years, but I finally took the opportunity to hop in my car at 6am with a good friend and head down Highway 1 to Big Sur.

Is that as crazy as it sounds that I've never been 3 hours South of me to one of the most sought landmarks in the world? I think so too.

I have this idea that I want to see the whole world; The presumptuous thought of the overused quote "I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list." But in my quest to explore the unknown, I tend to forget that where I live is one of the most sought travel destinations in the entire world.

Sure, there's a sense of accomplishment once you've backpacked through train stations that are in foreign languages, but there's a sense of pride that comes with exploring your own backyard. Here's a few of my favorite shots from my first trip to Big Sur in July 2018.
